Purpose of the Job

The purpose of the Senior Data Administrator role is to deliver a centralised data administration function to key Shoprite Group systems and business units for advanced and complex business processes. The role adheres to a clearly defined set of standards and procedures in order to assure that a uniform and consistent data approach is established and maintained across the organisation. The role interacts with other stakeholders to illicit input and specifications in terms of ensuring a customer centric approach and aligned service level standards.

Qualifications

• Relevant Degree in Information Systems, B.SC Computer Science or equivalent

Experience

• +3 years experience in a Senior Data Administrator or equivalent role, complying with or providing guidance to data administrative frameworks, policies, procedures and guidelines – (essential).

Experience specific requirements:

• Business Intelligence (BI Developer with knowledge of traditional Data Warehouse concepts).
• Data Engineering skills (big data, Hadoop, Spark).
• AWS (EMR, S3, Athena, RDS, Lambda, API Gateway).
• Solid understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
• User requirements analysis.
• Solution architecture design.
• Strong SQL skills, particularly on big data.

Knowledge and Skills

• Demonstrable knowledge of data administrative practices within the FMCG, retail sector, understanding of data administration execution
• Exposure to statutory requirements, applying and monitoring relevant laws, regulations and best practices as they relate to data administration

Preferred:

• Experience within the FMCG, retail sector or similar
