Purpose of the Job

A brand new opportunity exists at Medirite Divisional Office for a Buyer. The purpose of this role is to buy effectively to ensure constant sales growth and an increase in gross margins, coupled with necessary advertisement spend recoupment. The ideal candidate must have a passion for procurement and possess an entrepreneurial and merchant-style of thinking.

Job Objectives

To maintain updated trading terms by:

• Analysing sales of different products to ensure optimal ranging
• Determine trends related to changes in market/shortcomings
• Liaise with suppliers
• Negotiate trading terms to ensure maximum revenue and maintain a set GP
• Manage supplier relationship
• Ensure availability of stock
• Monitor stock movement – correct stock received on time at the right place
• Control short dated products
• Manage stock write-offs

To ensure continuous promotional activity in the group by:

• Project manage the promotions drives in the group
• Align with Marketing to ensure synergy
• Set and maintain pricing
• Handle branch queries related to pricing
• Track effectiveness of each promotion and react accordingly

To ensure alignment between Healthcare related and Pharmaceutical products

• Advise on ranging
• Product selection
• Look and feel

Qualifications

• Grade 12
• Business Degree or any other relevant qualification

Experience

• 3 Years of current buying experience within a retail/wholesale/FMCG environment
• Experience specifically within the skincare industry

Knowledge and Skills

• Knowledge and understanding of healthcare related products
• Knowledge and understanding of Financial indicators
• Exceptional communication skills
• Sound analytical skills
• Good negotiation skills
• Computer literacy – MS Office & SAP experience will be advantageous
• Numeric reasoning
• Ability to build strong supplier relationships
• Project management skills
